Juicing for Better Skin and How to Eliminate and Prevent Wrinkles

Juicing fruits and vegetables gives the skin a natural glow similar in appearance to a sun tan. Juicing also makes you more attractive. Juicing gives the skin an attractive glow primarily because of the carotenoids in fruits and vegetables like pumpkin, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

The latest issue of Life Extension Magazine explains how juicing can also prevent and heal wrinkles:

There are approximately 4,000 naturally occurring plant metabolites called bioflavonoids. These compounds are responsible for the vibrant-color of many fruits, vegetables, and flowers.1 They can also defend your skin against the damaging effects of stress, pollution, and even age itself.

Bioflavonoids have the ability to neutralize reactive oxygen species by donating one of their electrons, thus stabilizing the molecule and breaking the oxidative chain.2 This can result in visible signs of healthy, more vibrant skin.

Three of the better-known bioflavonoids, quercetin, hesperidin, and rutin, have intriguing research indicating their abilities to prevent and reverse wrinkles, reduce the appearance of age spots, and fight spider veins.

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, foods rich in quercetin include “citrus fruits, apples, onions, parsley, sage, tea, and red wine…. Olive oil, grapes, dark cherries, and dark berries — such as blueberries, blackberries, and bilberries — are also high in flavonoids, including quercetin.”
