My latest trip to Costco was especially fruitful (hah).

Townsend Organic Antioxidant Blend Frozen Cherries Blueberries Strawberries Pomegranate Raspberries

Fresh berries are extremely expensive. Organic blueberries can cost as much as $8 a pound. This blend Costco currently sells is loaded with antioxidant rich blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and pomegranate arils. (Pomegranate is nature’s Viagra.) The price is highly affordable as the three-pound bag was only $9.99. The blend is tart and is best blended with one or two bananas.

You can also use the berry mix to make banana berry ice cream.

Spinach is rich in Vitamin K, Vitamin A, manganese, folate, and magnesium. It also has more protein per calorie than red meat and is loaded with cancer-fighting phytonutrients. (Read more about spinach at the excellent World’s Healthiest Foods website.)

Pineapple contains bromelain, which reduces inflammation in the body. A friend who recently underwent cosmetic surgery shocked her doctor and family after a record-setting recovery. Following my diet of pineapple and kale juice as well as pineapple and kale smoothies, she had almost no swelling around her eyes after a mere 3 days.

Antioxidant Berry Green Smoothie

  • 2 cups spinach (or your favorite green)
  • 2 cups frozen berries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops protein powder
  • 12-16 ounces of water, almond milk, or etc.

Pineapple Kale Inflammation Fighter

  • 2 cups spinach or kale (dinosaur kale is best)
  • 2 cups pineapples
  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops protein powder
  • 12-16 ounces of water, almond milk, etc.

[Note: Add more water or almond milk to suit your taste. If you want a thicker smoothie, use less. If you want more of a milk shake, use the amounts indicated or even add a bit more.]

If you are recovering from an injury or especially hard workout regime, the Pineapple Kale Inflammation Fighter will be a game changer.

Is the Pineapple Kale Inflammation Fighter not supposed to have pineapple in it?

Hah. It’s 2 cups pineapples rather than berries. Updated the post; thanks.
